DESCRIPTION:Staircase to Liberation with Bhikkhu Bodhi\nThis evening program will consist of meditation and a talk exploring the Buddha’s teachings on Transcendental Dependent Arising (Samyutta Nikaya 12:23).  \nYou can find his biography on our guest teacher page. \n\nInsight Meditation South Bay meets every Tuesday evening for a sitting and Dhamma talk. The principal teacher is Shaila Catherine and unless otherwise indicated the Tuesday evening program will be lead by Shaila. Guest speakers are featured regularly. See also weekly sitting. \nEveryone is welcome. Chairs are provided. Bring a cushion and mat if you prefer to sit on the floor. \nIMSB relies  upon the generosity of participants to support our teachers and cover organizational expenses. Dana  is a word in the ancient Pali language that describes donations\, offerings and generosity. Two bowls will be available at an event to practice dana for the teacher and IMSB; we encourage you to give joyfully and generously\, according to your resources and means. IMSB is a 501(c) (3) organization. All donations are tax deductible as permitted by law.

SUMMARY:A Benefit Evening with Ajahn Brahm
DESCRIPTION:An Evening with Ajahn Brahm\na Benefit event for the Buddhist Women’s Monastic Community\nTHIS EVENING will include sitting meditation and teachings by the Venerable Ajahn Brahm\, author of several widely acclaimed books including Who Ordered That Truck Load of Dung\, Mindfulness\, Bliss\, and Beyond\, and his newest book Don’t Worry\, Be Grumpy! \nAccording to the teacher’s dedication\, this evening is a benefit event for the Dhammadharini Sangha. Founded by Ayya Tathaaloka\, Dhammadharini is the first Bhikkhuni Sangha of the Theravadin forest traditions in North America\, and one of the few places in the West where women can train and fully ordain. Dhammadharini’s Aranya Bodhi Hermitage and temporary vihara are led by fully ordained female monastics (bhikkhunis)\, the type of monastic life and ordination established by the Buddha more than 2500 years ago. This benefit will help support this fledgling monastic community establish it’s long-wished-for permanent bhikkhuni monastery/vihara. \nDANA: There is no registration fee. This is a pure dana-based event intended to raise awareness and support for the women’s monastic community of Dhammadharini. Your offerings will be shared between the host sangha Insight Meditation South Bay and the Dhammadharini Support Foundation\, with the larger share going to support the possibility of a permanent bhikkhuni vihara/monastery. Donation bowls will be available at the event. We encourage you to give joyfully and generously\, according to your resources and means. IMSB is a 501(c) (3) organization. All donations are tax deductible as permitted by law. \n7:00-7:15 Book Tables will be open for purchases and signing \n7:15-9:00 Evening Program includes meditation and a talk. \nEveryone is welcome.
