The principal teacher is Shaila Catherine and guest speakers are featured regularly. Thematic series are periodically presented\, but whether or not a topic has been advertised in advance\, Shaila or a guest teacher will lead the sitting and offer teachings. On Thursdays\, we meet in Saratoga for our Dhamma Classroom\, for a series of structured courses with registration\, and periodic drop-in practice events.

What is reliable\, both as an inner refuge and as a source from which to act? Buddhist teachings emphasize the impermanence and unreliability of the world\, and they also offer reliable means to navigate such a world skillfully\, such that our life becomes a path to Awakening. In this series\, we will explore the five spiritual faculties (trust\, energy\, mindfulness\, concentration\, and wisdom) as reference points and doorways to finding balance and clarity amidst uncertainty. The low rate of $125 is used for the most basic administrative costs. This base rate does not factor in compensation for teachers or ongoing administrative expenses for IMSB. SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE: A limited number of scholarships at the rate of $62.50 are available for those with very limited financial means. What is reliable\, both as an inner refuge and as a source from which to act? Buddhist teachings emphasize the impermanence and unreliability of the world\, and they also offer reliable means to navigate such a world skillfully\, such that our life becomes a path to Awakening. In this series\, we will explore the five spiritual faculties (trust\, energy\, mindfulness\, concentration\, and wisdom) as reference points and doorways to finding balance and clarity amidst uncertainty. DESCRIPTION:Long Discourses of the Buddha\nwith Shaila Catherine \nOur nine month Sutta Study Course on the Digha Nikaya will run for 9 months beginning in February 2020. We meet in three locations to serve the local and online community: \n\nFriday mornings in Palo Alto\nWednesday evenings in Menlo Park\nMonday evenings online\n\nEnrollment will remain open for this course until the second monthly meeting\, and then closes for the remainder of the year. \nRegistration details are on our Sutta Study Course 2020 page. \nNewcomers are welcome to join each year.
